YouTube® continues to add features and settings to enhance video viewing, such as selecting different sizes of video clips, adding descriptions, making playlists, and more. One feature many users may not know about is “Captions” or subtitles. This feature allows for subtitles to be included on shared videos that support this option. The instructions below describe how to turn it on when watching a video.
Enabling subtitles on YouTube®:
- Launch your Internet browser.
- Find a video clip you want to watch on YouTube® and click on it.
- On the bottom bar, look for the “Closed Captioning” icon “CC” and click on it.
- If the video supports subtitles, a pop-up window will appear with options.
- Select the language and the subtitles will be displayed at the bottom of the video.
